This Just in...

We've got about 5 inches so far and it's still coming down.

Current activities include:
Rye, snoozing in bed
Trev throwing the ball for the dogs in the snow
Me, curled up on the couch with a cup of tea and a book
aaahhhhh, snow days. Chattanooga hasn't seen one like this in a while.

Consequences

Let me start with not last night but the night before...Rye slept for 7 hours! Wahoo! So we both woke up rested and I thought that yesterday would be a good day to accomplish various projects that I've been wanting/needing to do. So here was my day:

Wake up, feed Rye
Breakfast
start laundry
nap time (for Rye)
Paint the cabinets in our bathroom --1st coat-- and the door to the guest bedroom--finally!
Feed Rye
Give Rye a bath
Work out
nap time (Rye)
Lunch
2nd coat on cabinets
print out new pictures for the picture frames in the bathroom
clean the bathroom
Feed Rye
iron new curtain for bathroom,
play with Rye
nap time
3rd and 4th coats on cabinets
blow the leaves out of the flowerbeds, driveway (top portion) and yard
take shower
feed Rye
make dinner
finish 2 loads of laundry
Trevor comes home and we have dinner and play with Rye before bedtime.
Last night: Rye slept 8 hours!
now, we come to the consequences....today I have done....nothing. I have taken care of Rye, made myself food and taken a nap...and I plan to continue these activities til the end of the day. Also, i woke up feeling like I might be at the start of the plague...you know, achey, tired, hot/cold...so it's a good day to do...nothing. Good thing I got so much done yesterday...still trying to decide if it was worth it though...

I'm just glad my little monster is here to keep me company.

Forget the Tigers and Bears

We've got Lions..oh my!
I was going to wait an extra day or 2 to post this (you know, try to spread the postings out a bit) but i couldn't wait to share the "mane" event with you.

Check out this little man eater:

He's just waiting for Aunt Kaley to come down so he can give her a lion kiss. ;)

Where's Waldo

As promised, here is the "official" Hart family photo. But, to have some fun with it (of course) I've posted the "before" and "after" versions. See how many "fixes" you can find. Wild and exciting prizes will be awarded to the best guesser. (I'm thinking it will be a close call between Jenn and Megan...since they both are in the photo-altering "biz")

3 month chunk

Lordy, Lordy look who's....3 months. Oh yes, believe it or not we have reached yet another landmark. I still can't believe that we are counting how old he is in months! It seems like I should still be answering in weeks... however, considering my math skills I should be thankful that's not the case.

Here's what I like to call the "before & after" picture....

Some of Rye's new favorite activities include flirting, I mean, playing with his baby activity center (thank you Rich and Missy!)...

watching TV with Dad...

And doing lots of fun activities with Mom which are never photographed since I'm always the one taking the pictures (hint, hint Trevor).

So I told Rye that he was 3 months old today and he went "REALLY?!" and made this face...

so then naturally we had to celebrate.... (p.s. don't' miss the hidden meaning)

Here's another shot of my 14 lb chunky monkey...

Happy 3 month birthday Rye Pie.

8 is a very important number...

...when it comes to sleeping, that is.

Yes folks, for the first time on Saturday night Rye made it for 8 hours between eating! That means I got about 7 hours of wonderful, magnificent, glorious and CONSECUTIVE sleep. Sleep, oh sleep, how I have missed thee.

Rye noticed how excited I was and wanted to make sure that my expectations going forward weren't too high so he got up every 2 hours and 4 hours last night. You know, just to keep things real. Sigh, oh well, as Mom put it...there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And that light's name is Well Rested. Someday, that will be my name too.

Until then, here's another pic of the cutie pie in question.

Takes a Little Time Sometimes

Big News. New music, coming March 30th. Big News. Very exciting. Who? Consider your source. Who else but Miss Amy Grant (some of you know her as HAmy Grant). Big news indeed. Read more here.

Ok, time to break out the balloons and the bubbly. I know I will.

Candyland

So, as part of the new "Rye diet" + the new years resolution, I am (attempting) to give up sugar. As in, not just sweets, but really limiting my carbs and sugary fruits. Those of you who know me are well aware of what an intense struggle this is for me. However, the motivation is pretty good (healthy baby and no baby weight) so I'm pushing through.

However, it seems my subconscious is also struggling with this new diet plan.

Exhibit A:
Last night i dreamt that someone bought the island across from my parent's house (they live on a lake, fyi). They completely rebuilt it using a layered system. The layers were as follows:
1-a nice sturdy base of rice crispy treats.
2- a layer of sugar cookie dough.
3- a layer of vanilla icing.
4-another layer of rice crispy treats.
5-anther layer of sugar cookie dough.
Then they used the remaining (how was there any left?!) sugar cookie dough to form various hills, rocks and shrubs throughout the island.

Naturally I thougt it neighborly to head over for a visit, where I was greeted with the opportunity to "try" their island. I returned home, reluctantly, with a full tummy and a sugar headache. The following weeks I would sneak over in the middle of the night (which required swimming across the lake at night) to "sample" the island for a mid night snack.

Apparently the sugar has a stronger hold then I had imagined. Stay tuned next week, Trevor and I are considering moving into a gingerbread house.

Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?

Dear Brother John,
I am writing to you regarding my sweet little baby. He is 2 and 1/2 months old and up until a 2 weeks ago had been sleeping very well. However, the past 2 weeks he has been sleeping (at night) between 2-3 hours. Considering before he was averaging between 5-7 this is, as you can imagine, quite tiresome, to say the least.

To provide you with all pertinent info, here is a sample of his schedule as of late:
9:30am: wake up/"breakfast"
11am: first nap
12:30pm: "lunch"
1:30pm: early afternoon nap
3:30pm: afternoon snack
4:30pm: afternoon nap
6pm: "dinner"
7:15pm: evening nap
8:15pm: evening snack
9:45pm: before bed snack
10:30pm: bedtime
1:30am: night snack
3:30am: night snack
6am: night snack
7:30am: early morning snack
9:3am: repeat

Note: during the day he does great, going between 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours between eating. He also takes great naps, staring happily around in his bed before drifting calmly off to sleep.

He's a very happy baby too. During the day when he's all smiles, man, that makes my day.

Another thing that's new is the drooling. He has never drooled before but lately he has a small river coming from his mouth. Could he be teething already?

Overall, I really can't complain. He's a happy, smiley content little baby.

Brother John, please let us know if you have any recommendations, suggestions or life experience to share with us.
We'd like for this shirt to prove true:
Sincerely,
Mom and Dad (but mainly Mom)
