Ok, those of you who appreciate my crazy dreams...and love the phenomenom that is Twilight will enjoy this.
I had a dream the other night that Bella and Edward wanted to have a baby that was a perfect combination of both of them. So they had a "test tube" baby. They made her a girl and determined that she would be musically gifted. They chose Bella's hair color and Edwards green (pre-vampire) eyes. And they named her...Edella (pronounced A-della)...get it? 1/2 Edward and 1/2 Bella.
I must say I'm pretty proud of my subconcious for coming up with this one!

Tis the Season for Pictures Pleasin'
Here are some pictures I stole off of Mom's computer so you can have a Christmas teaser to hold you over until I get home and pull the pics off my camera. Rye sure did enjoy his first Christmas.
He's going thru a huge growth spurt now so most of the festivities he was sleeping thru but regardless, he was very merry this Christmas. Here are some highlights for you.
--notice his cute outfit in this picture...thank you Joanna and Denver!

Christmas smiles for Uncle Rex...wearing his "first Christmas" shirt...

Look at that big pile of presents! Not bad for his first Christmas!!

Rye: Month 2
Our little baby turns 2 months today. Wow.
Here are some updates/pictures and overall Rye trivia to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Here's Rye with his Pop.
Things I love about this picture:
1. both of their heads are tilted the same way
2. both of the arms are doing the same thing
3. Neither of them are showing their teeth when they smile, hey, wait a second....

Here he is showing his silly side:
And his sillier side:

Cutie Pie Christmas light time...

This little tyke is about 10 1/2 lbs and 22" long. He's smiling a ton and has pretty good head movement. He still likes to hit himself in the head with his hands (who's controling these things?!) but seems to understand that they are attached to him. He loves to snuggle with Mommy and chill with Daddy.

As you can tell, he's very excited about his first Christmas. ;)

Camera Phone Fun
Here are some fun pics i found on my phone.
Here is the evidence of our little Houdini... here is the before picture, nice and snugly tucked in his bed:

And the after...escaped again!

Here's Rye taking after his Mommy...just imagine that finger tapping on his nose while he's deep in thought...

Here's a picture of Izzy holding Rye...everyone issmiling...pretty impressive, especially for a camera phone shot.

Rye and Mommy being silly. When we are bored we like to take silly pictures like this and send them to Daddy at work. Haha, so silly.

Milk: Does this body bad.
Well we had Rye's checkup this week.
The good news: He's in the 50% percentile for both weight and height.
The bad news: He's allergic to dairy. Which, we learned is different from being lactose intolerant. He's allergic to the proteins in milk which means his body thinks they are evil invaders and creates antibodies to attack and destroy. Which also reeks havoc on his system causing a painful belly, stuffy nose, red eyes, and blood in his poop. :(
So...since we are breastfeeding, that means that I am no longer able to have anything that comes within a 50 mile radius of milk. So, just in time for Christmas I am saying goodbye to cookies, cakes, butter, cheese, milk, sour cream, cream cheese and everything that you might put that in. Such as: lots of breads, processed meats, crackers, and all sorts of yummy goodness.
You can imagine how i feel about this. But, after Rye went through a 3-hour all out inconsolable crying spell last night after I accidentally ate some spaghetti sauce that had some alfredo mixed in...I am motivated to keep my poor innocent baby from pain and suffering. So for the next year (or until we stop breastfeeding) I will be dairy free. Hopefully this will speed the removal of my baby fat--which is the only upside I'm seeing at this point. Anyway, that's our news.
If anyone knows of any non-dairy recipes, I'm suddenly very interested in those.
So I'm saying goodbye to this:
But this is my motivation:

Ornaments
I was ornament shopping online and found a lot i like. Since i won't be purchasing them all i thought I'd go ahead and post them on my blog "tree" so we can still remember them for years to come.
To remember the year:

For me because i Love the Muppets:

For Trevor because he's my handy man:

Being a mom is like...
...driving a stick shift. --This is my wise wisdom after 6 weeks of Motherhood.
Allow me to explain. When you are learning to drive a stick shift someone will explain to you about pushing in the clutch, putting the car into gear, and releasing the clutch as you press on the gas. You can understand all of the steps, but you don't really understand it, until you get in the car. So you take your head knowledge and you begin to apply it. You go through the steps and then you begin to get a FEEL for how it all works. Then, once you start getting the feel for it, you realize that some cars need you to let the clutch out slower, some you have to apply more gas and some are quite capable of starting in 2nd or 3rd gear, while others need to be eased through 1st. But don't worry, you will get a feel for you own car and what makes it run smoothly. And the good news is, it gets easier and becomes more natural the more you do it.
There. That's my insightful analogy into motherhood. :) Please, share your "Being a mom is like..." analogy. Prizes will be rewarded.
Speaking of sharing... here are some pictures from our photoshoot yesterday with my big little man. 6 weeks. wow.

Calling all smart shopping Moms...
Ok, well since I'm pretty sure that it isn't physically possible to go through diapers faster than little Rye is currently exhibiting...I'm interested in how all you moms out there have managed to save money on diapers. What's the best route to go? Joining rewards programs? Shopping at Sams? Buying off brands? Signing up for newsletters that include coupons? Please, share your wisdom, i'll make like a diaper and soak it all up. :) ewwww, gross.
