Guess who is their first BFF?

You know, the Grammy was great, I was excited about the People's Choice Award and really quite honored to have received a Pulitzer Prize....however none compare with being chosen as someone's FIRST BFF.

Here are some pics from my little BFF Avery's 2nd birthday.

and the night wouldn't have been complete without some priceless shots with my tiny BFF Maddy. I can't believe she smiled in BOTH of these pictures!

**I feel compelled to mention that actually Avery prefers Trevor. Maddy definitely prefers me and i'm trying my hardest to win Avery over completely, but until i build up my massive muscles in order to swing him around the room constantly i think Trevor will have the upper hand.

What cute, cute kiddos these are. Love em! So cute!

the funk

as you can see, i've got the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk....day and night, night and day..so kick back and relax all you little funkadelics, cause the train's in the house.
(i'm assuming only about 4 people will get this reference...but go ahead, prove me wrong)

Today here are my 2 new best friends:

Mom, notice anything special about this honey bunny? He keeps his honey on the family tree. wink wink.

So, yea i've got the funk. good old tissue loving, coughaholic Briana. Good stuff. I"m sure the 30 degree mood swings our weather has been having isn't helping too much but i admit i am looking forward to 70 tomorrow after 40 yesterday. :)

Let's see what else is new....hmmmm we'll i'm nearing the completion of birthday week, no not mine, come on, you would have heard about that before now! (though we are approaching the 1 month mark...) anyway...Trev's mom's birthday was on Friday, Heidi's was on Saturday, Avery's was on Monday and Emily's is this coming Friday! WAhoo! birthdays!

Other than that Mia is going blind in her right eye...or something like that it's gross enough that i won't describe it for you.....yes, very creepy....but she seems to be doing a bit better every day so we'll see...

that's all from Sneezeville...

10 hours makes you crazy

Monday was President's Day. Now that I'm a banker (audible sigh) i care about these holidays.

So, what did i do with my whole day off?

-i started things off with a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast with cream cheese and strawberries.

Then i proceeded to spend the next 10 hours cleaning everything in sight.
such as...

-all my baseboards
-swept, mopped or vacuumed all respective floors
-cleaned out my flower beds and trimmed back my monkey grass
- dug rocks out of our woods to make a path from the front porch to the back (almost killed myself, that's another story)
-2,345 loads of laundry
-rearranged our bedroom
-cleaned out my closet and drawers

ok, well there were a couple other things i've blocked out, but the point is i did A LOT! So, it is COMPLETELY understandable that perhaps i might have been a BIT preoccupied when i put, what i thought was dish washer detergent in the dish washer.....yea, not so much.

This is what we discovered a couple of minutes later.....

yea, well i'll add this one next to my ant-infested apple pie pics, again...another story.

Pre-day wishes for you

I really liked this little beauty i found on the interwebs that i searched for "valentine". I think it's the least mushy valentine that exists in the world of hearts. So here i share it with you. My stolen valentine. Take it, love it, cherish it in your hart.

LOVE
-Briana

Small is big.

Today will probably end up being like any other day. I probably won't remember it in 10 years, or 10 days. I'm ok with that. However I do want to remember just a couple things about this morning. Nothing special, but it was one of those mornings that makes you smile and go "this is a good morning"---which for me is a noteworthy because i'm more of a night person.

Again nothing unusual, but a couple of small good things happened..

I woke up to smooth, soft sheets.
--we got new sheets on our bed and they fit around our giant mattress pad/cushion thing--noteworthy because our other fitted sheet was constantly coming off and getting bunched up and driving me bananas. Plus these sheets (mom, you will love this...)are organic. They are made from bamboo but they are the softest, bestestest sheets.

Zoe put her arm around me when i gave her a hug.
--she does this great thing where she'll roll over on her side and then swing her left arm up and around you so that she can actually hug you back. it is the greatest.

The first thing i tried on actually looked presentable.
--I hate dressing up for work and it usually takes me a couple tries to find something that works. Just a nice little treat.

my house was (somewhat) clean this morning.
--I spent 4 hours last night cleaning and working on house projects. It was so nice to wake up and see what i'd accomplished.

There was a beautiful sunrise.
--Usually being up early enough to see this makes me grouchy, not today.

I'm sitting at my desk with a warm cup of coffee and listening to Amy Grant.
--no explanation needed here.

That's all, i just want to remember these little things that made it a great morning today.

the end.

Truly Trivial Trivia

Trevor sent me this interesting tidbit today... some background on some of my favorite characters...

Kermit The first Kermit was made out of Henson's mom's coat and some ping pong balls. At the time, he was more lizard-like than frog-like. By the time he showed up on Sesame Street in 1969, though, he had made the transition to frog.
Swedish Chefl There was a real swedish chef that was on "Good Morning America," and caught Jim Henson's eye. Henson supposedly bought the rights to the show's recording and created the Swedish Chef (who DOES have a real name, but it's not understandable).
Miss Piggy is apparently from Iowa. She started as a minor character on "The Muppet Show," but anyone who knows Miss Piggy can see that she wouldn't settle for anything "minor." Her first TV appearance was actually on an Herb Alpert special. It wasn't until 1976, when "The Muppet Show" premiered, that she became the glamorous blonde with a penchant for frog that we know and love today. Frank Oz once said that Miss Piggy grew up in Iowa; her dad died when she was young and her mother was mean. She had to enter beauty contests to make money.
Rowlf the Dog, surprise, surprise, was first made in 1962 for a series of Purina Dog Chow commercials. He went on to claim fame as Jimmy Dean's sidekick on The Jimmy Dean Show and was on every single episode from 1963 to 1966. Jimmy Dean said Rowlf got about 2,000 letters from fans every week. He was considered for Sesame Street but ended up becoming a regular on "The Muppet Show" in 1976.
Gonzo: What exactly is Gonzo? Nobody knows. Even Jim Henson had no particular species in mind. Over the course of "The Muppet Show," "Muppet Babies" and various Muppet movies, Gonzo has been referred to as a "Whatever", a "Weirdo" and an alien. Whatever he is, he first appeared on the scene in 1970's The Great Santa Claus Switch. His name was Snarl the Cigar Box Frackle. He became Gonzo the Great by the first season of The Muppet Show and developed his thing for Camilla the Chicken almost accidentally: During one episode where chickens were auditioning for the show, puppeteer Dave Goelz ad-libbed, "Don't call us, we'll call you... nice legs, though!" It was decided then and there that Gonzo would have a bizarre romantic interest in chickens.
Statler and Waldorf. I couldn't find much on their particular inspiration, but I can tell you that they've been around since the 1975 "Muppet Show" pilot. They are named after popular New York City hotels (the Statler Hotel was renamed the Hotel Pennsylvania in 1992.) Guess what Waldorf's wife name is? Yep... Astoria (she looks startlingly like Statler.) FYI, Waldorf is the one with the mustache and white hair. Statler has the grey hair. Apparently Waldorf has had a pacemaker for more than 30 years.
Beaker: Although Beaker usually says things along the lines of, "Mee-mee-mee-mee!", he has had a few actual lines: "Sadly temporary," "Bye-Bye" and "Make-up ready!" Despite being word-challenged, he manages to do a pretty convincing Little Richard impression and, surprisingly, had mad beatbox skills. Beaker is one of the only Muppets that was never recycled from some other purpose -- he was created solely for "The Muppet Show."

Fozzie Bear. Poor Fozzie. He's the perpetual target of Statler and Waldorf because of his horrible jokes and puns. It actually created a bit of a problem during the first season of The Muppet Show, because when Fozzie got heckled, he got very upset and sometimes cried. Viewers didn't feel sympathy; they felt embarrassed. The problem was solved by making Fozzie an optimist so that even when he got heckled he was good-natured about it. Wocka wocka!!
Rizzo the Rat might sound familiar to you, especially if you've seen "Midnight Cowboy" -- he is named for Dustin Hoffman's character, Ratso Rizzo. he's easy to spot because he hams it up more than any of the other rats. He occasionally performs with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Pepe the King Prawn's full name is Pepino Rodrigo Serrano Gonzales. He rarely gets names right -- some of his mispronunciations include "muffins" instead of Muppets, "Kermin" instead of Kermit and "Scooper" instead of Scooter. He's quite full of himself -- in addition to thinking that he's quite the ladies' man, he also fully expects to win several Oscars.
ok, those are my favorites to see the rest, if you care...click here.

one liners

Technology is a nice thing. Today it allowed me to correspond in a random manner with Heidi. For her responses click Heidi

here's my end of the conversation...

it’s a beautiful cold and blustery day.
Rex is leaving Friday morning.
I have the urge to shop.
I am eating cake for breakfast.
I’m regretting it already.
I like cinnamon coffee.
I made a stupid mistake with my photoshop file and will have to rebuild the whole thing.
It’s cold outside.
My hands went numb walking to work.
I was asked to give money for a baby present to someone I don’t even know.
I told them no and I’m glad, I hate feeling guilted into giving money.
I’m going to yoga today.
Should be good.
I turned off my alarm in my sleep this morning. Trevor woke me up.
I miss the glamorous life.
Can you miss something you don’t have?
Sure. Why not.
I’m tired of all the music on my ipod.
I’m unmotivated to rebuild that stupid file.
I want to make mix cds instead.
We are going to go have Thai/sushi tonight.
I’m excited about it.
A lot.
I dream about Amy Grant and how we are friends all the time.
I dreamt about getting in a fight with a lady from my church in VA last night.
I’m tired of all of my winter clothes.
It is impossible to keep my house clean.
Sigh.
I’m complaining a lot recently.
I need to work on that.
Or I could complain about it.
This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.
I want to watch a chick flick.
