the flu

we have it. a lot of it.

the end.

just kidding, but really that's about all i've been up to the last, oh week and a half. Rye got it first, pretty much the day we got back from vacation. Then he shared it with me, who succumbed on Sunday, and Trevor followed suit on Monday.

In other news, we have had a giant snow dump here in Chattanooga. We got 8ish inches. Crazy! I haven't seen this much snow since....um well some time in the 90's in Virginia. The good news is that this has prevented Trev from going to work all week, until today, which has been great so we could share cough syrup and Rye responsibilities. Oh and just kidding about the cough syrup, that stuff is nasty, plus it always has the opposite affect on me, drowsy keeps me up, non drowsy puts me to sleep, but not consistently enough that i could just switch labels...it always messes me up. enough said. But back to the snow, yea, 8 inches of beautiful perfect for sledding, snowmen and snow angels, snow. Have i left he house to even touch it, yes once, but only long enough to scoop up a snowball and show Rye, "this is snow, if we felt better we would have fun with it, but for now you can look at it. enjoy". He was not impressed.

So, going on 6 days, in the house, on the couch, in my sweatpants. Lovely. And yes, i am pretty much going insane. Up until today i've been sick enough to not care, today i am well enough to wish i was up and about, but sick enough not to follow through. Yuck.

So, that my dear friends is why i am online, ,writing you this admittedly boring post. I am out of activities i can do using minimal effort. Any tv shows or movies available on netflix would be appreciated. Also, feel free to call if you are up for some complaining. There's not much new to talk about besides the amount of tissues i've used and the amount of tea with honey i've had today. Exciting and newsworthy, i know.

Well since i'm even boring myself here, i'll let you go. Back to organizing the 2600 emails i've let collect in my inbox since 2006. Seriously.

p.s. Take your vitamins.

Le Jour de Noel

One of the big hits was the stuffed Diego that Grandaddy and Mimi got Rye. He got such a kick out of sitting in the box with it. Silly, silly.

Uncle Rex and Uncle Chaz got Rye a lincoln log set...
which came with it's own train (apparently things have upgraded since we were kids...)
Rye also got a giant ball pit. He wasn't too sure of it at first...
We put Diego in to keep him company...
another silly face..
attacking visitors of his realm...
yep, he likes it.
Finally after presents (and a nap for Rye) we headed outside to take a family picture in the snow.

Virginia came through for us and we had a beautiful white Christmas.

avant le jour de noel

Getting ready for Christmas in Virginia...

the tree...

the stockings hung by the chimney with care...
the decor...
and the family togetherness time...

Rye inspecting the Christmas handy work of his mom and uncles from Christmas past...
a typical Hart interaction....notice Rye observing the protocol...
and finally....the pre-gift giving stocking photograph ritual.
up next, le jour de noel!

Christmas-y

I had to post some of the "Christmasy" pictures we've taken recently. It's so much more fun with Rye this year now that's he's aware (at least somewhat) of the wonderfulness that is Christmas. We had a great time decorating the tree and playing with lights.

Family photo...
the quality of this picture was...ugg, i was trying to hurry and capture what he was doing and alas, you just can't take a quick picture when you have your camera on manual. Anyway, Rye had taken down one of my ornaments from when i was a kid and was playing with it. He broke it (don't worry mom, we fixed it) but he saw me come over and quickly tried to put it back on the tree. (who me?) nice. they learn that early i guess.
Rye is a big fan of the tree, he especially likes to take the branches apart....and eat them.

Well that's all for now. Merry Christmas!

Cousins, Cousins...

there were never such devoted cousins.
(bonus points if you know what that's from)

Here are some adorable shots (if i do say so myself) of Rye and his cousin Autumn over Thanksgiving. It was so fun to see them playing together. Their activities included Rye taking toys out of the bucket and Autumn putting them back in, looking at books with Gramma, and my personal favorite...Autumn supervising Rye's snack. Check it out...

I"m so glad Rye has cousins (on one side of the family at least!) to play with. I loved playing with my cousins growing up and it's so exciting to see the next generation enjoying it too.

See you soon Autumn!
