"No, it's a NEW one!" & Blogstalking

Here's the latest from last night. It has a purple people-eating sister but upon further contemplation i have decided that she is too evil to appear out in public yet. Stay tuned, we'll see if she can be saved. In the mean time chew on this. (No, Bethany, not literally).

p.s Blog stalkers mystify me. I wonder if these are the people (ahem, Bethany) who would become "peeping Toms"** if they knew that they wouldn't get caught.
One theory is that these people are the ones who will go through your drawers and closets when you are not at home, they like to snoop but don't want to get caught. Another theory is that they assume that if there is a link on your blog to other blogs, then that invites them into their world as well. Interesting theory.
So is the purpose of a link on my blog an offering to share that friendship with my other friends? Interesting indeed.
It seems that Blog World provides us with a "no risk" opporitunity to explore the lives of people we don't know. Though it ends up being a bit like reading a letter that was written for someone else. Maybe it is just networking opporitunites that people can't resist. Although I tend to belive it is closer to the Peeping Tom** scenario.
**Peeping Tom is actual legal verbage: A "peeping tom" is usually a voyeur, one who gets pleasure, from secretly watching others.
The term comes from Peeping Tom of Coventry, England, who was the only person to see Lady Godiva naked as she rode her legendary horse through town, in an attempt to get her husband to lower taxes. The townspeople had been asked to close their shutters, but Tom did not, and caught a glimpse of her.
"Peeping Tom" laws are often contained within loitering, disturbing the peace or criminal surveillance laws. A person commits the crime of criminal surveillance if he or she intentionally engages in surveillance while trespassing in a private place. Surveillance is generally defined as the secret observation of the activities of another person for the purpose of spying on them and invading their privacy. It also applies to a person who peeps through windows or doors.
These laws can be subject to challenges on the grounds that they are unconstitutionally vague. In may places, they are municipal ordinance violations, rather than felonies or even misdemeanors. If you have been charged with this crime, you should consult with an experienced defense attorney in your jurisdiction who can explain the particulars of your state or city law, and evaluate any defenses you might have.

Baby Shower--the lazy version

Quite a few happenings lately. Went to Asheville for the Becky Baby Shower Show. Here are some pics from that...

Becky Badley, Katie (my most favorite person in the world) and The Great Aunt Ginnie

Momma Mia, Kaley and moi. Moi? Oui! C'est moi!
my hair looks marginal in this picture. sigh.

Well this is 'the lazy post' since i stole these pictures from Becky's friend Courtney who i am hoping is not a blog stalker and will not realize that i have stolen what i am afraid is copywrited material. eek!~

Well blog stalkers is another subject i will be discussing in the near future so please go ahead and start thinking about your positions on the subject. I hope to get a lively debate going.

For now it is back to work, perhaps in another couple weeks i'll post pictures from our noteworthy ski trip last week. Or the easter egg hunt....oh the possibilities that await you my blog visiting (which is different from blog stalking) friends!

Other things to discuss: cool websites. Well i hope someone is taking the minutes of this meeting...we will need to remember it for, dot, dot, dot (yea i wrote it out instead, for added dramaticness)...the future.

kind of killed the effect there... sigh

Pottery 101

Developing my artistic side has always been an important endeavor to me.
Early on I dabbled in iron-on patches, felt bible figures, and the occasional paper doll. As my skills progressed I moved on to collages, mix tapes and photoshoots. By highschool I was writing music, painting (most anything in my room---sorry everything was purple and green for a while there, Mom!) and completed our (Becky and my) 2-year Hart Cousins' motion picture, which was a smashing success featuring such renown talent as, Amy Grant, Twila Paris, Lisa (local TV anchor) and Wor-D.
By the time I was in college my endeavors stretched to include, sculpture, painting, writing and musical performances (playing guitar for hall worship night counts as "musical performance", right?). Now that I have moved into the realm of "adulthood" I have seized opporitunities, however fleeting they may be to paint, write, decorate/arrange, sew and now....drum roll please.... pottery.

My friend Emily's sister in law Trish has begun teaching pottery classes at her studio. My friend Alysse and I have been to 1 class and 1 practice session so far and LOVE it.

In our first class we learned how to "wedge" which is the opposite of "kneading" so my extensive trainging in bread making did not really come in handy that much. Then we learned about "centering" which they say is the hardest part to learn.

(it also makes your hands look old and hairy---ok that's not really me)

Centering is the art of making sure your clay is in the very center of the wheel so that when you are working with it it doesn't become lopsided. This took a lot of practice but I got the hang of it pretty easily--i liken this to waterskiing, it is not something you can really explain, you just have to keep doing it until you feel how you are supposed hold it so that it does what you want.

(again with the hairy arms)
Then we practiced making a couple things. They were supposed to be low dishes, to set a candle on or such. My clay decided it wanted to be a small vase....oh well. Here are pics from the first day...
We loved it so much we went back out on Saturday and "practiced". I was pretty happy with my little vase, tea light holder and my plate until the plate went "whoop" to the side when i took it off the wheel. sigh.
Hopefully the picutres will become more and more impressive as we get better. We are going to work with sculpture soon too. SO very excited about that.
